HuaKe Run and Sino-European Zhiwei, together with Zhili Fang IDEAS³, made a remarkable appearance at the 16th COA Academic Conference.

From December 4 to 8, 2024, the 23rd Orthopedic Academic Conference and the 16th COA Academic Congress were grandly held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Ningbo Huake Run Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary, Sino-European Zhiwei (Shanghai) Robotics Co., Ltd., showcased a comprehensive portfolio of minimally invasive orthopedic solutions at the exhibition, including the Intelligent Woodpecker Miniature Spinal Surgery Robot, vertebroplasty series, spinal internal fixation series, sports medicine series, as well as active devices and consumables, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

ZhiLifang IDEAS³ It is the Intelligent Digital Ecosystem of Advanced Spinal Surgical Solutions, jointly launched by Ningbo Huake Run Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Sino-European Zhiwei (Shanghai) Robotics Co., Ltd. At the core of the ZhiLiFang IDEAS³ is the intelligent Woodpecker miniaturized spinal surgical robot. Leveraging multimodal fusion technology and preoperative and/or intraoperative planning, it can operate under three types of technical assistance—real-time C-arm guidance, navigation-guided procedures, and navigation-based positioning—and seamlessly integrate with a wide range of products from Huake Run and other authorized brands. Throughout the entire procedure, both active and passive surgical instruments are used in a fully visualized manner, empowering clinicians across various spinal surgical scenarios—including vertebroplasty, endoscopic decompression and fusion, and pedicle screw fixation for the entire spine—to perform operations that are more convenient, precise, intelligent, minimally invasive, and efficient, thereby achieving a perfect closed-loop integration between product systems and clinical needs.

At this year’s COA Conference, Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei, under the theme of “Zhilifang IDEAS³: An Intelligent, Digital, Advanced Spinal Ecosystem,” brought together cutting-edge technological insights, product showcases, corporate culture, and brand identity. By seamlessly integrating intelligent digital attributes with cubic design elements, they created a futuristic, smart-digital space. Supported by immersive audio, lighting, and electrical effects, each thematic exhibit and display resonated harmoniously with the aerial and floor-based Zhilifang motifs, amplifying their technological allure and making them the standout highlights of the entire conference exhibition hall.

Centered on the Intelligent Woodpecker miniaturized spinal surgery robot, the exhibit featured dedicated zones for vertebroplasty, spinal internal fixation, active medical devices and consumables, and sports medicine. Each zone not only showcased its signature products but also leveraged a combination of physical exhibits and digital multimedia to demonstrate and simulate clinical scenarios and application workflows in which these product lines synergize with the Intelligent Woodpecker, enabling visitors to fully experience the cutting-edge capabilities of the ZhiLiFang ecosystem.

At the iFLYTEK IDEAS³ booth, the smart woodpecker micro-spinal surgery robot experience zone jointly set up by Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei drew particular attention. Through detailed explanations from booth staff and hands-on demonstrations of the robot’s operational workflow, clinical experts were able to directly appreciate its outstanding performance—characterized by being “miniature,” “highly precise,” “efficient,” and “intelligent”—as well as its unique, differentiated design. The smart woodpecker received special review approval as an innovative medical device from the Medical Device Technical Review Center of the National Medical Products Administration in early 2024. When integrated with the iFLYTEK ecosystem, it will be able to support a broader range of surgical applications and procedures, while effectively enhancing the precision and safety of existing surgical techniques.

On the morning of December 7, the inaugural signing ceremony for “Intelligent Digital Advanced Spinal Ecosystem” and “New Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques in Spinal Surgery” was solemnly held at the IDEAS³ booth at ZhiLiFang. Professor Zhou Yue, a leading expert in minimally invasive spinal surgery, attended the event in person and engaged in lively exchanges with attendees. The newly launched technical documentation for “Intelligent Digital Advanced Spinal Ecosystem” features comprehensive information on the full product portfolio under Huake Run and Zhongou Zhiwei, presenting, through a diverse mix of visuals, text, and video, the applications and distinctive characteristics of various robotic and AI-powered products across multiple spinal surgical scenarios—including vertebroplasty, endoscopic decompression and fusion, and pedicle screw fixation for the entire spine. This material provides readers with a holistic overview of the innovative “1+3+1” surgical solution—comprising robots, consumables, and equipment—and the broader IDEAS³ product ecosystem. The event was marked by an enthusiastic atmosphere, with a steady stream of visitors; long lines formed at the book-signing table, underscoring how the early winter chill could not dampen clinicians’ anticipation and enthusiasm for cutting-edge products and technologies.

During the exhibition, Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei leveraged the “Bone Dance” cloud-based live-streaming platform to deliver online presentations on a range of topics, including an in-depth analysis of miniaturized spinal-robot navigation and positioning technology, the clinical applications of such robots in minimally invasive surgery, innovative combined clinical cases involving bone-cement–augmented pedicle-screw fixation and curved-balloon kyphoplasty, exploratory PCVP treatment for linear osteoporotic fractures, “Curve Technique: A New Choice for PKP,” and clinical experience with curved-balloon kyphoplasty. The presentations provided detailed insights into the key technical aspects and practical takeaways from real-world clinical procedures, drawing significant attention and active participation from a large online audience.

To enhance the exhibition experience, Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei have meticulously organized two on-site challenge competitions for clinical experts: “Sharp Eyes and Quick Hands” and “Masterful Skill.”

In the “Quick Eyes, Quick Hands” challenge, participants are tasked with using a robot to plan and position a single screw as quickly as possible. Thanks to the Intelligent Woodpecker’s sophisticated algorithms and exceptional stability, competitors can now complete this task in under one minute—representing a groundbreaking leap in planning and positioning speed compared with conventional robotic solutions on the market.

The “Masterful Artistry” challenge tests both the operator’s dexterity and the performance of the product system. Participants used the Huake Run Spinal Dynamics System to meticulously carve the word “IDEAS³” onto eggs, with the completion time measured without breaching the eggshell membrane. Throughout the competition, participants showcased their skills, producing one exquisite carved masterpiece after another while gaining a firsthand appreciation for the Huake Run Dynamics System’s exceptional precision control and outstanding stability.
