Micro-Era | The Intelligent Digital Advanced Spine Ecosystem (“Smart Cube” IDEAS³) Experience Salon Successfully Held in Nanjing

Rooted in the integrated ecosystem of industry, academia, research, clinical practice, and diagnostics, we are committed to advancing medical technology and product innovation, driving the progress and development of intelligent, digital orthopedics, and empowering healthcare professionals to deliver greater benefits to more patients. Ningbo Huake Run Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and its subsidiaries Sino-European Zhiwei (Shanghai) Robotics Co., Ltd. The “Micro-Era” Smart Digital Advanced Spine Ecosystem Experience Salon will be held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, from June 21 to 22. More than 200 renowned orthopedic experts from top hospitals across the country, along with dedicated distributor partners who have tirelessly advanced the industry, attended the event to gain a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge, intelligent, digital spinal surgery solutions. They immersed themselves in an orthopedic ecosystem comprising micro-robots, active devices, and related consumables, and experienced firsthand the rich array of clinical applications offered by the intelligent microsurgical robot—“Spinal Woodpecker.”

During this event, Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei unveiled for the first time the Intelligent Digital Ecosystem of Advanced Spinal Surgical Solutions (IDEAS³)—the “Smart Cube” concept—and provided a multi-dimensional demonstration of its extensive product capabilities and comprehensive support across a wide range of spinal surgical procedures. Meanwhile, exhibition staff thoroughly briefed visiting guests on the safety and efficacy of IDEAS³ in numerous surgical applications, as well as its product positioning and feature portfolio that span from top-tier hospitals to primary-care facilities, earning high praise from numerous experts and partners.
Depending on varying clinical needs, the “IDEAS³” ecosystem from Zhilifang encompasses a tiered spectrum of solutions, ranging from basic to comprehensive: ① a remotely controlled micro-positioning system guided by intraoperative X-ray imaging; ② an optical navigation system based on 2D, 3D, and CT modalities; ③ the Intelligent Woodpecker spinal surgery robotic system; and ④ a holistic solution centered on micro-robots, complemented by active devices and associated consumables. Leveraging multimodal fusion technologies and preoperative and/or intraoperative planning, this ecosystem enables fully visualized manipulation of both active and passive surgical instruments under the guidance of three primary technical modalities—real-time C-arm–assisted guidance, navigation–assisted guidance, and navigation–positioning technology. In a wide array of spinal procedures—including vertebroplasty, spinal endoscopy, pedicle screw placement across the entire spine, percutaneous rod insertion, intervertebral decompression and fusion, precision visualized decompression in planned target areas, and vertebral–basilar nerve ablation—the ecosystem empowers clinicians, making surgical workflows more convenient, precise, intelligent, minimally invasive, and efficient. The development of IDEAS³ has successfully ushered the entire product portfolio of Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei into a new era powered by micro-robotic technology.

Under the guidance of the technical teams from Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei, the visiting guests engaged in an immersive experience and in-depth discussions on the multi-scenario clinical applications of micro-robots at the Intelligent Woodpecker Robot Innovation Showcase Area.
All under control
The world’s smallest surgical robotic arm control system, no larger than a human palm and weighing as little as 1.63 kg, enables single-operator, remote guidance under X-ray fluoroscopy to perform guided puncture and localization for a variety of surgical procedures—including vertebroplasty, spinal endoscopic puncture and targeting, percutaneous odontoid screw fixation, and spinal nerve blockade—without the need for image reconstruction or registration. This makes surgery more convenient and efficient.

Violet Points North
Navigation systems based on 2D, 3D, and intraoperative CT can be integrated with a wide range of navigation toolkits, including puncture needles, pedicle screws, interbody fusion cages, and power drills, while also being open to and compatible with corresponding products and instruments from other manufacturers. This enables visualization of multiple spinal surgical procedures, thereby ensuring patient safety.

Sharp eyes, quick hands Hurry!
The Intelligent Woodpecker robot is equipped with a high-frequency, wide-angle dynamic tracking imaging system, intelligent planning and positioning software, and an innovative robotic arm operating mode, enabling a range of procedures including vertebroplasty, pedicle screw placement throughout the entire spine, and cervical lateral mass screw insertion. The system achieves an accuracy of up to 0.2 mm, reduces surgical duration by 50% compared with conventional robotic systems, comprehensively ensures patient safety, and significantly shortens procedure time.

Meticulous carving and pecking
It is possible to integrate various active spinal devices—whether built into the system or proprietary to the hospital—into a robotic navigation platform, enabling pedicle screw entry, channel creation, and tap drilling under robotic guidance. This facilitates a range of precision procedures guided by surgical planning and navigation, including laminotomy, spinal canal expansion, nerve root canal shaping, intervertebral space management and endplate preparation, as well as enucleation of tumor tissue compressing neural structures, thereby making surgical maneuvers more visual, precise, minimally invasive, safe, and efficient.

Huake Run’s comprehensive orthopedic solution portfolio was fully showcased at this salon, encompassing vertebroplasty products, spinal internal fixation systems, sports medicine solutions, and active devices and consumables. The Intelligent Woodpecker robot and Huake Run’s orthopedic solutions mutually reinforce each other, jointly building the IDEAS³ intelligent digital advanced spinal ecosystem and demonstrating the innovative integration of implantable consumables and active devices with microsurgical robots.

This salon has specially curated a unique “Micro-Era Travel Imprint.” Each guest in attendance is not only a participant in this groundbreaking journey, but also a co-creator of the intelligent, cutting-edge spinal ecosystem—and a living witness to how micro-robotics is ushering in a new era of minimally invasive medicine.

Over the course of the two-day symposium, more than 200 guests attended in person, gaining an in-depth hands-on experience with the comprehensive functionalities of IDEAS³ and the diverse applications of the Intelligent Woodpecker robot across multiple clinical settings. Together, they explored the clinical needs and development directions for surgical robots, as well as the future trends in intelligent orthopedics. The successful execution of this event vividly demonstrated Huake Run’s and Sino-European Zhiwei’s innovative strength in the field of smart orthopedics, along with their relentless commitment to technological advancement and product R&D.
Kerun China, Weichuang Future—Huake Run and Sino-European Zhiwei will continue to strive for excellence, relentlessly advancing the cross-disciplinary integration of medicine and engineering. Upholding our customer-centric mission, we will work hand in hand with physicians and distribution partners to usher in a new era of micro-innovation in orthopedics empowered by micro-robotic technology!
