HuaKe Run’s Curved-Angle Vertebral Kyphoplasty System Earns Recognition in Germany

This marks Professor Engelhardt’s first use of this system to perform surgery on an elderly patient with osteoporosis who was diagnosed with a T1 vertebral compression fracture accompanied by a 15-degree lateral curvature. Given the more severe degree of compression on the left side, Professor Engelhardt opted for a left-sided pedicle-screw approach, and both the puncture and channel-establishment procedures proceeded smoothly. A curved balloon was then advanced through the working channel into the vertebral body and slowly inflated after contrast agent injection, successfully achieving comprehensive intraosseous distraction that restored vertebral height, corrected the lateral curvature, and normalized the spinal alignment. Bone cement prepared using a bone-cement mixing kit was delivered via a connected curved delivery catheter; the simultaneous injection and retraction technique ensured uniform and optimal distribution of the cement on the contralateral side, in the central region, and at the puncture site, with particularly thorough filling of the fracture zone, thereby providing robust stabilization of the vertebral body.

The entire procedure was completed smoothly in just 30 minutes, fully demonstrating the advantages of the Huake Runwan Angled Vertebroplasty System: ease of use, substantial reduction in fluoroscopy counts, and shortened operative time.

Currently, the patient is recovering well and has been discharged from the hospital without complications.
